Maddix absolutely loved singing to music and had a diverse genre of music on his playlist. He ALWAYS had music going, whether it was at home, in his truck, the shower, or on his ATV and golf cart. When he and his sister were together, they were always singing and performing. He enjoyed being her backup singer and if you ever heard them sing “Let it Go,” you would never forget their version. He loved the Chicago Cubs and all things American Flag. He was also his little brother’s hero; Maddix adored him and loved playing and teaching him things. Kids were always drawn to Maddix; he loved to make them laugh with his goofy antics. His laugh was contagious, and when you saw his smile, you couldn’t help but also smile.
During high school he loved leadership class because he got to help the community and spend time being a mentor to the elementary kids. Maddix loved his friends and family very much. His weekends were spent with friends, usually hanging out in the Hobby Lobby parking lot listening to music, admiring their trucks and being goofy. Once he even took a charcoal grill to the Hobby Lobby parking lot and grilled hamburgers for dinner on New Years Eve. Maddix had a way of making everyone he met feel like he had known them forever.
Maddix had just started his final semester and on-the-job training through Vo-tech when he was fatally injured in a car collision on February 2, 2024. The collision occurred because the driver, his boss, was impaired from consuming alcohol at lunch and then huffing nitrous oxide (Whippets) while driving the three employees back to work. Another passenger also suffered injuries as well and is recovering. Maddix sustained major head trauma and passed away at the hospital from those injuries the next morning Feb. 3, 2024. The driver has been charged with Murder II and DUI with great bodily injury and is awaiting criminal proceedings as of August 2024.
Maddix had his whole life and a bright future ahead of him and it was cut short at the young age of 18 because of someone’s irresponsible and selfish actions. Maddix is extremely missed by all those that knew and loved him. He was the good that our world needs more of.
